What the Consultation Covers
When a Silk Touch designer visits your property, the following steps happen in sequence.
- Physical room measurement. Every room in scope is measured using a laser measure and manual cross-checks. Ceiling heights, wall lengths, soffit dimensions, and any structural protrusions are recorded precisely before any design work begins.
- As-built condition checks. Walls are checked for plumb and square using a laser level. Floor level variation at joinery junctions is assessed. Service positions — power points, plumbing outlets, gas — are confirmed before any wall closings are proposed in the design.
- Design discussion. We work through your brief: layout preferences, functional priorities, material options — 18mm HMR board, 2-pack polyurethane, timber veneer — and your approximate budget range. Material samples are brought to the visit.
- Structural and access review. Constraints identified during the measure — existing joinery, alcove dimensions, ceiling soffits, floor-level changes at thresholds — are discussed on the spot. The design brief reflects actual site conditions, not assumed ones.
- Scope confirmation and next steps. We confirm the project scope and walk you through the full timeline: site visit to 3D renders, renders to written quote, and quote approval to fabrication commencement.

What to Prepare Before We Visit
The consultation is designed to work at any stage of planning. A finalised brief is not required. Three things that make the visit more productive:
- Inspiration images. Screenshots, saved pins, or photographs of kitchens or wardrobes you like. Visual references communicate material and layout direction faster than any description.

- Access to every room in scope. If we cannot enter a space, we cannot measure it. Clearing floor-level clutter from areas to be measured speeds the visit significantly.
What Happens After the Consultation
The visit produces a complete site measure and a confirmed design brief. From that point, the sequence is:
- 3D design development — 2–3 weeks. We produce 3D renders of the proposed layout and material selections for your review.
- Review and revisions. You review the renders, request changes, and confirm a final design direction. Revision rounds are not capped at this stage.
- Written quote. A detailed, itemised quote is issued after design approval, covering all supply-and-install costs with no unspecified allowances.
- Sign-off and fabrication. Nothing goes to the workshop until both the design and the quote are signed off in writing. No deposit is collected until sign-off. Current fabrication lead time from sign-off is 6–8 weeks.
